A Message From Kristin LaTour
in April, National Poetry Month, I write a poem everyday and email them to anyone who sponsors me. In the past, I've fundraised for a youth theater group in Flint, MI called the Bullycide Project which works to erase hate in high schools. They are connected to Matthew Shepard's Foundation through a theater production of Lesléa Newman's book October Mourning: a Song for Matthew Shepard.
Given the political and social climate in our country, this year I wanted to raise funds that would go toward erasing hate nationwide. The Matthew Shepard Foundation works with the DOJ and major cities to help stop hate crimes. They also have an online place where gay and trans youth can find help and support. Their mission "to erase hate by replacing it through understanding, compassion and acceptance," is something I try to do in my own life as a teacher. I hope you'll consider supporting me, and get some perks as well!
Here are the perks!
Any donation amount means you get my brand new poem in your email every day in April
A$30 donation allows you to assign me a word to incorporate into a poem.
A $60 donation allows you to assign me a theme for a poem.
A $100 donation allow you to choose a favorite line from a poem during the month, which I will turn into a piece of watercolor "circle art" and mail to you in June.
Thank you for helping me to help the Matthew Shepard Foundation ERASE HATE IN THE US!!!
